Elk Creek Ranch offers trophy
rainbow trout fishing in a pond setting located 45 minutes away from Denver. The property
consists of two ponds and a half-mile of Elk Creek. The upper pond is stocked with 8 to
14 inch rainbows and even some 16+ inch trout. The lower pond, also known as the trophy
pond, is loaded with rainbows that measure 16 inches and up. Beautiful rainbows up to
9 pounds have been landed in this trophy pond. Trout in both ponds respond well to both
dry flies and nymphs with crystal beetles, parachute adams, bead head hares ear, and green
scuds being some of the flies of choice. The creek is undergoing some improvements that
should help increase holding capacity and quality of the stream. Trips to Elk Creek Ranch
will also include access to Farmers Union, which is located 15 minutes away in Bailey.
The combination of both properties will give anglers access to 2 miles of river, one heavily
stocked pond, and one trophy rainbow trout pond. This trip is ideal for anglers looking
for high-quality fly fishing in a private ranch setting close to Denver.
