South Platte River @ Deckers

Flow: 170 CFS

Rating: 3

Outlook: good fishing for the next few months

Deckers is going strong with some great blue winged olive action early in the afternoon, especially on overcast days.  The area has received several stockings of smaller rainbow trout earlier this year that are anxious to take your fly.  Fish the bwo nymphs in the morning and bwo dries in the afternoon for your best shot at catching trout.

 

Don't leave home without:  hackle wing blue winged olive 18-20, blue winged olive emergers 18-20, sparkle winged RS2's 18, buckskin 16-18,

South Platte River @ Cheesman Canyon

Flow: 165 CFS

South Platte River Below Spinney Mountain Res.

(Dream Stream)

Flow: 70 CFS

Outlook:

The Dream Stream has tailed off since a strong showing in the month of March.  The opener for Spinney Reservoir is scheduled for Wednesday, April 12th.  This is some of the best fishing you will see in a lake setting, be sure to be their early, the gates open at first light.

Arkansas River @ Salida

Don't leave home without: black foam bodied caddis dry 14-16, peacock caddis 16, pheasant tail nymph 16, copper john 16-18

 

Roaring Fork River @ Glenwood Springs

Flow: 1200

Rating: 1

Outlook:

The Roaring Fork is blown around the Glenwood Springs area.  Head towards Aspen for your best look at clear water.  Double nymph rigs with the following flies will take the most fish. 

Don't leave home without: tunsten bead soft hackle hares ear 14-16, stonefly nymph 10, brown stonefly 10, brown and olive woolly bugger 10 

 

Colorado River @ Kremmling
