Upper Bear Creek starts in the Mt. Evans Wilderness and flows down to Evergreen Lake. Most of the water is private but you can find good pocket water fishing up high for smaller sized trout. Lower Bear Creek starts below Evergreen Lake and Flows down to Bear Creek State Park in Morrison Colorado. There are some private areas on this creek , but there is plenty more public than private. With easy access from the canyon you can find lots of pull offs and parks that are fishable. There is an abundance of trout here and the caddis hatches and midge hatches are constant. Be prepared to be shocked at the amount of fish that you can catch so close to the Denver area. With small towns all the way up the canyon it is a great spot to spend a morning and get lunch at a local diner or hit it later in the afternoon or evening to catch the dusk hatches. Evergreen lake is very popular for spin casters but fly fisherman can kill it there as well using dry fly and streamers alike. And if you have a float tube or boat it can be great fishing for 14-16″ “Stockers” in the summer.
