Marcelo Caiozzi

065Marcelo Caiozzi, a Denver Fly Fishing Guide, was born in Chile, South America where the beautiful and pristine wilderness created a lasting impression on him.  From fly-fishing for trout to surf-casting for Corvina, it didn’t really seem to matter as long as there was some intriguing species of fish to pursue.  Primarily raised in the mid-west, Marcelo grew up learning how to catch bass, trout, crappie, pan fish, pike, catfish, carp, etc….  Once completing his master’s degree, Marcelo relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico where he dove into his fascination of fly-fishing.  In Santa Fe, Marcelo directed a collegiate Outdoor Leadership Program where he, of course, added fly-fishing to the curriculum.  Marcelo’s passions for fly-fishing were reflected by a quick growing need for adding more and more fly-fishing classes to the roster.  Besides teaching fly-fishing, Marcelo was an avid guide for 3 separate professional fly-fishing businesses which kept him very busy guiding on such rivers and streams as the legendary San Juan, Rio Grande, Cimarron, Culebra, Santa Barbara, Pecos, Jemez, etc…072

Now residing in Colorado since the early 2000’s, Marcelo has been continuing his passion for fly-fishing and has quickly become one of the top guides with the Hatch Fly Shop.  Marcelo loves exploring local Colorado waters and has fished and guided such rivers as the South Platte, Arkansas, Blue, Colorado, Gunnison, Roaring Fork, Frying Pan, North Platte, etc…  Besides fishing freshwater, Marcelo enjoys his off-season vacation time fishing for such saltwater species as bonefish, redfish, jacks, tarpon, shark, barracuda, permit, and whatever else will bite his fly.  The only question Marcelo seems to have is how he will be able to fish all of his 10, 9, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, & 0 weight rods this season?  Too little time, too much to explore………
